Your voice matters and it’s important that our industry is represented.
As a school leader in the beauty and wellness education space, I am incredibly passionate about the role career schools play in shaping not only skilled professionals, but confident, career-ready individuals. Organizations like the American Association of Cosmetology Schools continue to serve as a vital voice for our industry, advocating for policies and support that directly impact our students and their success.
Career education is unique. Our students are not only learning theory, they are developing hands-on skills, building client relationships, and preparing to enter the workforce immediately upon graduation. Because of this, it is critical that regulations, funding opportunities, and institutional support systems reflect the realities of how our programs operate.
Over the past several years, we have seen significant shifts in student needs, workforce demands, and operational expectations. Schools are being asked to do more and deliver high-quality education, maintain strong compliance standards, and ensure successful outcomes in graduation, licensure, and placement. At the same time, we must remain accessible and affordable for the students we serve.
To continue moving our industry forward, I believe there are several key areas of focus:
🎓 Student-Centered Support
Students thrive when they are supported holistically. This includes not only financial aid accessibility, but also clear pathways to licensure and employment. Policies should prioritize student success from enrollment through placement.
💼 Workforce Alignment
Career schools are directly connected to workforce needs. Strengthening partnerships between education and industry ensures students graduate with relevant, in-demand skills that lead to immediate employment opportunities.
📊 Operational Flexibility
Career education requires flexibility. From scheduling to hands-on training requirements, schools need the ability to adapt while still maintaining compliance. Thoughtful regulation allows schools to innovate while protecting quality.
🌱 Continued Investment in Career Education
Investing in career-focused education is investing in the economy. Our graduates go on to become small business owners, entrepreneurs, and essential service providers within their communities.
At its core, career education transforms lives. Every policy decision made at the national level has a direct impact on the students walking through our doors each day. It is critical that we continue to advocate for systems that support access, quality, and long-term success.
I am proud to be part of an industry that empowers individuals to build meaningful, sustainable careers and I am grateful for the continued leadership and advocacy that supports this work.
