We’re excited to introduce Amy Poff, one of the newest Cosmetology Educators at The Salon Professional Academy Maplewood!
Amy joined our educator team with a passion for two things that fit perfectly with our mission at TSPA: helping people feel confident and helping future beauty professionals grow. She says making people feel beautiful and confident is what originally inspired her to enter the beauty industry.
From Beauty Professional to Educator
Becoming an educator is one of the accomplishments Amy is most proud of in her career. Today, she gets to take the knowledge she has gained in the industry and use it to help develop the next generation of beauty professionals.
What does she love most about teaching? Watching students begin to believe in themselves.
For Amy, there’s something special about seeing students build confidence, become inspired and get excited about something they just learned or created. Her favorite part is simply seeing them succeed.
Amy was especially drawn to TSPA Maplewood because of our smaller class sizes and the opportunity they provide educators to give students more individual attention as they grow and develop. And, of course, she says another reason she chose TSPA was the people!
Always Keep Learning
If there’s one lesson Amy hopes every student carries with them after TSPA, it’s simple:
Keep learning.
That philosophy is something Amy applies to her own career, too. She is excited to continue growing professionally and working toward additional certifications. If she could instantly add a couple of new specialties to her skill set, Brazilian blowouts and extensions would be on her list.
Although Amy says she loves teaching just about everything, haircutting is one of her favorite services to teach. Her advice for someone considering beauty school is to come in excited, but also remember to give yourself grace on the tough days.
Get to Know Amy Outside the Academy
Amy is from Blaine and loves golfing, boating and especially traveling. She is married, has two children, and has an exciting new title coming soon — Grandma! Her family also includes two dogs and three cats, so there’s no shortage of activity at home.
Her favorite way to spend a day off is with her family or animals, and there’s one more fun fact her students should know:
