At The Salon Professional Academy, Maplewood, we are passionate about more than just creating beauty—we’re committed to making a difference in the world. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that our owners, Julie Mitchell and Cortney Leduc, will be joining the next Global Stylist Scholarship trip to Guatemala in February 2025. This incredible initiative not only empowers stylists worldwide but also enriches underserved communities through education and creative artistry.
The Global Stylist Scholarship is dedicated to advancing the beauty industry by providing educational opportunities for aspiring stylists. Through international trips, this program offers participants a chance to share their skills and knowledge, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those they serve. Stylists work alongside local communities, teaching haircare techniques, and providing much-needed services to individuals who may not otherwise have access.

As cosmetology school owners, stylists and leaders in the beauty industry, Julie and Cortney are no strangers to inspiring and elevating others. Their journey to Guatemala will involve hands-on teaching, mentorship, and service—all while fostering connections that transcend borders. By bringing their expertise and compassion, they’ll play a vital role in supporting the next generation of beauty professionals.
Trips like these embody the spirit of community and giving back. They remind us that beauty is not just about appearances but also about empowerment, education, and spreading kindness. Julie and Cortney’s participation highlights our Academy’s core values—helping individuals grow and succeed, both locally and globally.
You can be a part of this incredible journey! Donations are welcome and will go directly toward supporting this mission. Every contribution helps make this work possible and ensures that stylists and communities alike can benefit from the transformative power of education and connection. We are collecting new or gently used hair cutting supplies such and sheers, brushes, combs and blowdryers, hot tools and mannequins and stands. We will also need disposable capes and disinfecting pods.
