Celebrating Excellence: A Cosmetology Student at The Salon Professional Academy Wins the Beacon Award April 8, 2025

At The Salon Professional Academy, we are beyond thrilled to celebrate one of our talented students who recently won the prestigious Beacon Award with the Professional Beauty Association. We caught up with her to learn more about her journey to winning the Beacon Award, what inspired her to pursue a career in cosmetology, and what she’s most excited about for the future.

1. What inspired you to pursue cosmetology, and what do you love most about the industry?

“I pursued a career in cosmetology because I wanted to expand my skills beyond esthetics and offer a full range of beauty services. By going back to school for cosmetology, I could become more versatile in the industry, connect with clients on a deeper level, and express my creativity in new ways. What I love most about the industry is being able to give people the gift of confidence—helping them express themselves and feel their best every time I get the opportunity to connect with them.”

2. What was the process like applying for the Beacon Award, and what did you learn from it?

“Applying for the Beacon Award was a multi-step process for me. It involved creating a video introduction and interview to showcase my passion, obtaining letters of recommendation from an employer and/or educator, and focusing on how I present myself and my brand on social media. Through this journey, I learned the importance of applying and marketing yourself—it can open the door to so many new opportunities in the industry!”

3. What are you most excited about for your trip to Premiere Orlando and the Beacon experience?

“I’m most excited to attend Premiere Orlando and the Beacon experience because it’s an incredible opportunity to learn more about the industry and network with top beauty professionals through the Professional Beauty Association. Plus, I know I’ll be making memories that will stay with me for a lifetime!”
