Cortney Gorres - Owner/Operations
Ms. Gorres graduated from Century College, White Bear Lake, MN with a Cosmetology license in 2007. From there she went right into the workforce getting experience under her belt at a salon in Minnesota. In 2008, Julie Mitchell recruited Ms. Gorres to come work for her salon, Hair Company & Spa in New Richmond, Wisconsin.
During her nine year career with Hair Company & Spa, Ms. Gorres motivated and pushed herself, growing into the manager’s position. Also a “level 4” elite stylist, her responsibilities today include managing the salon and coaching her team to stay focused on their numbers, which are tracked through the Summit Salon program to help achieve higher income goals. With the Summit Salon program, Ms. Gorres also is dedicated to marketing herself and the salon in order to build clientele, meet their needs and keep them coming back. Ms. Gorres' persistent dedication to her clients through great customer service and continued advanced education is the number one driver of her ongoing success.
As an educator for the associates program, Ms. Gorres has trained extensively on how to teach newly hired associates at Hair Company & Spa how to grow into a successful full time stylist. New associates spend the first three to seven months with their educator, during which time they are evaluated to assess if they can meet the requirements to be a full time stylist at Hair Company & Spa.
Ms. Gorres is also very involved with her local community. She is an ambassador of the New Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce, contributing her time to monthly meetings, standing-in at ground breaking ceremonies, ribbon cutting events, and hosting and helping at other local events.
Julie Mitchell - Owner/Operations
Ms. Mitchell graduated from Professional Hair Design Academy, Eau Claire, WI in 2002 with a degree in Cosmetology. She started working at Hair Company & Spa in 2002 and purchased the salon in February 2005. While working full-time as a stylist and running the company, in 2007 Ms. Mitchell attended St. Croix Center of the Healing Arts, Hudson WI, taking courses in integrative and deep tissue massage as well as a massage business class, and bringing her new knowledge to expand Hair Company & Spa’s business. Ms. Mitchell has used her love of continuing education, her drive and people skills to make her salon a success. In addition, she has created a very positive and loyal culture between her service providers and guests in the salon.
In 2010, Ms. Mitchell attended the Summit Program with a goal of taking her salon to the next level. This leadership and business event provides a powerful experience that is targeted to help create a salon culture that is highly profitable, team-driven, and sales oriented. Since becoming a Summit Salon, Ms. Mitchell has grown her business from four service providers to a team with thirteen service providers and four additional customer service experts (and, as a result, growing from $258,596 in sales in 2010 to $801,940 in 2016). As a noteworthy aside, gift certificate sales increased from $14,718 to $45,965 over the same period. Ms. Mitchell is very proud of her numbers and her team, but knows that they have not reached their full potential. She will always strive to reach the next level!
Hair Company & Spa became a Redken Elite Salon in 2014, one of only 300 salons in the country with this status. The same year, Ms. Mitchell and her husband built their own building for the salon. Hair Company has earned a spotlight on The Summit Hall of Fame titled, “Success is on the other side of your comfort zone -Hiring practices and pricing strategies for profitability.” In addition, in 2015 The New Richmond Chamber of commerce named Hair Company & Spa as the Medium Business of the Year.

Over a decade ago, The Salon Professional Academy joined forces with Redken 5th Avenue NYC to develop a salon and cosmetology franchise that has changed the industry. Redken and TSPA collaborated to redesign what a “beauty school” was from the ground up – revisiting everything from the way things were taught to how the student salon area looked and functioned. The result was a ultra-modern training facility providing students with skills beyond what they do behind the chair; skills that prepare them for a professional, successful career.
With a commitment to industry-leading education, business skills that prepare students for more than passing state boards, and a desire to see our students surpass all expectations for this profession, Redken has provided The Salon Professional Academy franchise locations the exclusive designation of “Recognized by Redken for Excellence in Education.”
