Winter Skincare Routine November 15, 2021

Should you consider switching your skincare routine during winter?

Yes! Absolutely! A regular routine is important for keeping the skin looking healthy, youthful, and glowing. And as the seasons change, comes the need for skincare routine change too. The winter season is considered to be the harshest season for the skin. The cold air, the winter, and pollution are extremely affecting the look and the condition of the skin.

The switch in the skincare products is the first and the most important step, so here is everything you need to know on how to do it and keep your skin and face in the best possible condition during this winter season:

Step 1: Cleansing

Switch: From gel cleanser to cream cleanser

Cleansing remains the most important part of the regular and efficient skincare routine. Thoroughly removing the dirt from the face on a daily basis, leaves the skin prepared for the next skincare steps. The switch in products here should happen with the gel cleanser. Come winter, it is time to retire it, and switch it with a cream cleanser. The cream cleanser contains infused moisturizing cream that will keep the skin hydrated.

Step 2: Exfoliation

Switch: From physical exfoliants to chemical exfoliants

The second step in the skincare routine is exfoliation. The process of regular exfoliation, especially in the wintertime, is very important since it removes all the dead and dry cells on the skin. Additionally, it unclogs the pores and makes space for the glowing complexion to come out. The physical exfoliants are great for the summer, but in the winter, the chemical exfoliants are the better and stronger solution. They contain acids that gently dissolve the top layer of dead skin, making it look clean and healthy.

3: Moisturizing

Switch: From lightweight moisturizer to a rich cream

During the wintertime, the skin especially lacks moisturization and hydration. Since that is the last part of the regular skincare routine, the products used should complement the needs of the skin during the colder season.  The lower temperatures can be strong and harsh on the skin. The solution here is to go with a richer and heavier cream that will keep the skin extra protected.

The same steps can also be applied to the body skincare routine. To give your skin the most during the bathing and caring routine, use oil-infused body products that will add to the nourishment and hydration of the skin.
